Our ethos

The following three principles form the bedrock of our clinical philosophy

Trust

We believe the success of therapeutic container and the work done within it is dependent upon the trust the clinician has in themselves and in you, the client. This means we trust you to know what is right for you. We work from a harm-reduction perspective to build your trust in yourself until you come to feel and know your own inner healing intelligence that is safely guiding you towards wholeness.

Love

Instead of only focusing on thoughts or behaviors, we work with feeling. Love is the heart of healing, and the first step to feeling better is to get better at feeling. True affection and care is the core of our approach with our clients. We find that love is often left out in clinical settings, yet it is a core need of the human spirit. Thus, we see love as an essential component of the therapist-client dynamic.

Hózhó

The word hózhó [Diné (Navajo)] expresses a complex Indigenous wellness philosophy of being simultaneously at one with and a part of the world around us. In hózhó, the perfection of peace, harmony, beauty, and balance aligns one’s thoughts, actions, behaviors, and speech with practices of reciprocity, responsibility, and goodness. This is our holistic goal for our clients, rather than mere productivity or functionality.
